Quiche dish - Old Country Roses
The popular Royal Albert china pattern Old Country Roses came up, on a conference call with some Internet colleagues.
It is a classic pattern, made since 1962 in numerous versions, that is still going strong today. Old Country Roses has a fluted and non-fluted version, the holiday version, the garden and damask versions. And that's not all.
Part of what makes it classic is the charm of the rose motif. It brings to mind relaxing teas and holiday dinners. The best of the old mingled with enjoyment of the new. And it's been around long enough to have been Mom's and Grandma's china pattern.
Besides the different versions of the pattern, there are multiple variations of pieces like mugs, creamers, jam jars and salt and pepper shakers.
Then there are the matching pieces beyond dinnerware, like the piggy bank and the telephone. There are also baking dishes, glassware, cardboard recipe boxes, cloth aprons and potholders, and flatware.
I guess that's why the conversation stuck me - on the phone with dishie friends - how much one single pattern can bring people to common ground, regardless of the differences we may have in other areas of our lives.
