Hello Karen,

I have been thinking about your post, and looking for Federalist in my travels. But unfortunately, not finding! I have more to say about this, and I'll do a post about it soon. Thanks for your patience!

I was feeling nostalgic and ran into your site. I am an avid glassware collector. My father was a designer at Libbey Glass and L.E. Smith from the early 70's through the mid 80's. Since he passed a few years ago, I am attempting to gather as many of his designs as I can. He did very distinctive work including the very popular "Chilvary" glassware pattern. It warms my heart when I can see people appreciating the "invisible art" that we hold in our hands everyday.

I can add a bit of history to these designs for you. My father was lead 3-D designer and modeler at Libbey Glass from the early/mid 70's through mid 80's. His name was Larry Miller. He did most of the specialty and "shaped" pieces from this period of time for Libbey as well as L.E. Smith. I remember these glasses very well. The "Impromptu" in particular was very popular for customizing with silk screen for advertising with restaraunts and lounges. They were designed and made at the Libbey plant in Toledo, Ohio

Your site was forwarded to me by someone who knew I was looking for the name of the company who packaged/sold the glasses I have. My grandmother bought the peanut butter/glasses when I was barely a teenager and now they are mine. Thank you for your site and all the information you share. I'm so happy to find the information on my set of glasses.

I love this dinnerware. I wis given a set for a wedding gift in 1974 and it has served me well since then. I got the solid white which goes with any other serving dishes and we have used it every single day for both everyday and special occassions. Sadly I need to replace it and have not been abel to find anything close to it. Do you have a suggeting of something that measures up to this great set that could last me another 30 years.
